From the "Recipes from Mom's Kitchen and Memories" A Tribute to Our Mom With greatest respect and honor, we the children of Robert and Stella Murphy, want to thank our mom for being such a person of integrity, honesty, and loyal to our family. With you, your children and household came first and foremost. Maybe an example will be, starting out milking the cow, picking beans, then fixing breakfast for half a dozen, lunch, sewing on a blouse, fixing a big supper, (sliced tomatoes (peeled), roastneer corn, foot tub of tapioca), putting the kids to bed and finally chipping some ice to eat. This helps a person relax after a summer's long day. Another day off the calendar and then to do it all over again tomorrow with the same enthusiasm. That's the way we were raised. We look back and realize it must have been pretty good because of the way our friends liked to come out and spend the night with us. You taught us how to sit up straight in church and to never look back to see who just came in. Now that we have all grown, we can look back and thank that young girl who helped her dad raise her siblings during the depression.
